NFL declares Week 15 flex scheduling, Week 16 Saturday slate
As the regular season nears its final month, playoff races continue to heat up across the NFL. As a result of adaptive scheduling, more supporters throughout the nation will have the ability to see these significant competitions.
The league on Sunday declared the finalization of both Week 15’s flex program and Week 16’s Saturday doubleheader. The Week 15 1 p.m. ET competition between the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns and the 4:25 p.m. ET match between the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions will both be broadcast on FOX.
The reversal of network — a fresh element of the flex scheduling procedure called "cross-bending" — for the Cincinnati-Cleveland game brings an instate competition into a bigger audience as both teams fight for supremacy in a closely contested AFC North.
A classic NFC North matchup between recognizable foes takes the 4:25 p.m. time slot when the Vikings travel to Ford Field to take on the upstart Lions.

Ray Rice wins appeal, instantly permitted return
Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has taken a huge step nearer to a potential return to the NFL.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport first reported Friday that Rice won his appeal and has had his indefinite suspension in the league overturned, according to a source directly associated with the specific situation. Rice is instantly eligible to return by winning his appeal, Rapoport reports.
The NFL Media Group got Judge Barbara S. Jones’ overview and selection:
"In this arbitration, the NFL claims that Commissioner Goodell was misled when he disciplined Rice the first time. Because, after careful consideration of most the evidence, I’m not swayed that Rice lied to, or misled, the NFL at his June interview, I find the indefinite suspension was an abuse of discretion and should be vacated."

Oregon Ducks QB Marcus Mariota ticketed for speeding
For three seasons, college football coordinators have schemed to figure out a way to stop Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.
All it took the Oregon state police just a small stretch of highway near Eugene to trip him up.
The Ducks signal-caller was pulled over for speeding last week, according to The Oregonian. Mariota was caught driving at 80 miles per hour in a 55 zone.
"Mr. Mariota was polite and respectful, he was professional and took the citation appropriately and acted appropriately," state police Lt. Josh Brooks told the paper. "Everybody gets tickets and 80 in a 55 is a tad fast. We send you on your way, it’s just that."

Holgorsen: Kevin White most NFL-ready receiver I"ve coached
West Virginia wide receiver Kevin White is not only a top prospect for the 2015 NFL Draft, he could be ahead of three former first-round picks in terms of being ready to play at the next level.
That’s how Mountaineers coach Dana Holgorsen sees it, anyway.
"Of all the [receivers] I’ve coached — it’s crazy to say — he may be more suited for the NFL than any of them," Holgorsen said, according to Sports Illustrated.
Holgorsen’s travels from Texas Tech to Houston, from Oklahoma State to West Virginia, have indeed put him around some highly regarded draft prospects at the receiver position. Among them, Michael Crabtree, now of the San Francisco 49ers; Justin Blackmon, Jacksonville Jaguars; and Tavon Austin, St. Louis Rams. All three were not only first-round picks, but top-10 picks. And according to one NFL scout, White could be on his way to being drafted in the same first-round company.

Indiana"s Tevin Coleman generating "ton of buzz in NFL circles"
Indiana’s Tevin Coleman, who’s on the brink of setting his school’s single-season rushing record, is coming off a 307-yard performance and he’s second in the nation in rushing.
So why isn’t he receiving more acclaim? He’s been overshadowed in his own league by Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon — who is on pace to set the FBS single-season rushing record after a 408-yard performance and leads the nation in rushing.
» Scout’s Take: Can Melvin Gordon succeed in NFL?
But Coleman (6-foot-1, 210 pounds), a junior, is being noticed by NFL scouts. DEA agents check NFL medical staffs after games
Federal drug enforcement agents showed up unannounced Sunday to check at least three visiting NFL teams’ medical staffs as part of an investigation into former players’ claims that teams mishandled prescription drugs.
There were no arrests, Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman Rusty Payne said Sunday. The San Francisco 49ers‘ staff was checked at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, after they played the New York Giants. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ staff was checked at Baltimore-Washington International airport after playing the Redskins. The Seattle Seahawks, who played at Kansas City, confirmed via the team’s Twitter account that they were spot-checked as well.
The operation was still ongoing, Payne said.
"DEA agents are currently interviewing NFL team doctors in several locations as part of an ongoing investigation into potential violations of the (Controlled Substances Act)," Payne said.

Todd Gurley runs for 138, injured in return from suspension
Mark Richt didn’t exactly ease Todd Gurley back into the mix in the Georgia rushing rotation Saturday. And after a four-game suspension, the star junior looked like his dominant self until a left knee injury ended his night.
Gurley fed on a season-high 29 carries for 138 yards and a touchdown to help the Bulldogs to a 34-7 home drubbing of Auburn, keeping UGA in the hunt for an SEC East title, and as well marking the return of one of college football’s elite talents. But late in the game, Gurley took a carry up the middle and suffered an undisclosed injury to his left knee. He was carted off the field.
In his postgame press conference, Richt acknowledged Gurley hurt his knee, but wasn’t able to shed any light on the severity of the injury.
"Don’t know, I really don’t know," Richt told reporters. "I’m just as curious as everyone else. … He hurt his knee."

TCU stumbles, but escapes trip to Kansas behind Trevone Boykin
For three quarters, Kansas played like they were Baylor.
In the final quarter however, they reverted to form and looked like Kansas.
TCU survived a trip to Lawrence and tough winter conditions by a nose in a 34-30 win over a Jayhawks team that was thinking upset from the start.
The Horned Frogs looked as though they were going to put on another offensive show when they started the game with an opening drive touchdown on a quick, seven-play drive that took just over two minutes. Kansas responded right away with a 17-play, 76 yard drive for a score that showed they would be no push over on Saturday however.
