Indiana"s Tevin Coleman generating "ton of buzz in NFL circles"

Indiana’s Tevin Coleman, who’s on the brink of setting his school’s single-season rushing record, is coming off a 307-yard performance and he’s second in the nation in rushing.

So why isn’t he receiving more acclaim? He’s been overshadowed in his own league by Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon — who is on pace to set the FBS single-season rushing record after a 408-yard performance and leads the nation in rushing.

» Scout’s Take: Can Melvin Gordon succeed in NFL?

But Coleman (6-foot-1, 210 pounds), a junior, is being noticed by NFL scouts. NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks wrote Monday that Coleman has "spectacular skills" and that he "continues to generate a ton of buzz in NFL circles." Brooks also said Coleman has "the stuff needed to be a feature back at the next level."

Reports: Michigan AD Dave Brandon to step down Friday day

Beleaguered Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon apparently will step down Friday day.

The school has scheduled at 1:30 p.m. ET news conference, and various media reports have Brandon stepping down.

Brandon, 62, has become the ADVERTISEMENT since 2010. He’s a Michigan alum and was the chairman of the board of Domino’s Pizza when he was hired by Michigan.

He hired Brady Hoke as football coach, and Hoke undoubtedly is to the hot seat. The time of Brandon’s resignation could throw the anticipated Michigan training investigation into chaos, as it will be hard to engage a fresh trainer without that trainer understanding who his supervisor will be.

Bo Wallace, Rebels defense keep Ole Miss unbeaten

If you’re still waiting for the mistake-prone Bo Wallace to show up for Ole Miss, holding your breath might not be wise. The Rebels’ senior quarterback passed one of the most challenging road tests on Ole Miss’ schedule Saturday in a 35-20 win at Texas A&M.

» What you need to know from Week 7 in college football

He wasn’t spectacular, but he mistake-free. And with the support of a ferocious Rebels defense, that was enough.

Wallace completed 13 of 19 passes for 178 yards with a touchdown, and added two more touchdowns rushing among 50 yards on the ground. The biggest number for Wallace, however, was zero — as in zero turnovers — while Texas A&M quarterback Kenny Hill committed three of them (two interceptions, one fumble).
